As we prepare for Christmas let us remember Advent, Jesus Christ and all he means.
Mom mom Marguerite always made the Advent wreath for St. Marks Church. I can remember her doing it every year. Patti and I decorated our church for years and now that is mine and Kyles job. We just cut off branches from dad's Christmas trees and go to town. Sadly all those trees are now diseased and need to be cut down. This might be last years pickens. Fitting in a way. And I might add we are now to the rushing point for it all. So lets remember just what Advent means.
Expectation
Hope
Joy
purity
Remembering "Jesus is the light of the world"
I also make a wreath (although I am never satisfied with it). Every year I tell myself I will
do better and be ready for the first Sunday of Advent. I guess that is my Expectation. I set my dining room table with my Christmas china in hope for all our children to come for dinner on Sundays. I have great joy that they want too. We realize the purity lies in Jesus. We are far from perfect. If we have Jesus in our hearts and live his ways, we are as close to purity as possible. For only he can judge.
And we light the 5th candle to remind us he is our light, we can always see our way if we follow him.
This Advent season I wish all of these for you. My family, my friends & my neighbors. This year may you never loose expectation, hope, joy, purity and the light.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!!
