GRANDFATHER'S CHAIR

It sits in a room, worn, quiet, empty, firm, proud and full of memories.

Here I can sit in Grandfather’s chair

I can sit in this chair and rub the arms. I can feel his strength, his love.

I picture him relaxed with his wife Lillie and seven children after a long day of hard work.

He smells dinner and lights his pipe from his pipe stand.

I wonder in grandfather’s chair……

I remember him sitting tall and proud in this chair

I remember sitting on his lap

I remember the rides on his foot

I remember laughing in grandfather’s chair

I remember mom when she brought home grandfather’s chair

It was sad yet happy – we had my grandfather’s chair!

I am proud to sit in grandfather’s chair, I pray my children and grandchildren will also love grandfather’s chair. To cherish memories to be made in grandfather’s chair.

I cannot tally all those who have memories of grandfather’s chair, but I am thankful for all I have

as I sit and dream of the future in grandfather's chair.

Grandfather’s chair now rests in our living room. It is there for all to use. So come on by and take a seat
